March 24, 2005

The Patient Advocate Foundation Co-Pay Relief (CPR), A Patient Assistance Program was developed to provide financial assistance to insured patients who meet certain financial and medical qualifications to help them pay for out-of-pocket co-payments. This assistance supports patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, macular degeneration and secondary issues related to chemotherapy treatment by paying the out-of-pocket costs required by their insurance companies for pharmaceutical therapies. CPR helps patients who have insurance including Medicare beneficiaries. The program also supports physicians by reducing their uncollected bad debt.

The program offers personal service to all patients through the use of CPR call counselors. These counselors screen for eligibility by collecting financial and medical information from everyone who calls to apply for the program. Once eligibility has been determined, an application is completed and processed. Upon approval for assistance, payments are remitted directly to the supplier/provider of pharmaceutical products. Following the completion of the application process, it generally takes between 5-7 business days to obtain approval.
