Sheldon Weinhaus, Esquire


Sheldon Weinhaus, EsquireSheldon Weinhaus, Esq. of St. Louis, served on the President's Advisory Commission on Consumer Protection and Quality in the Health Care Industry, producing the Patient Bill of Rights. He has been in the practice of law for 40 plus years in both federal and state trial and appellate courts, and since the enactment of ERISA has pioneered the rights of patients to insurance coverage of lifesaving and expensive cutting edge medical techniques.

Before the Supreme Court he recently argued for a patient and won a unanimous decision in a health insurance continuation/dual coverage case lost at both the trial and appellate levels.

He lectures on discrimination and managed care issues for various programs sponsored by the American Bar Association, ALI-ABA, American Society of Law, Ethics and Medicine, NELA, AHLA, local and state bar organizations and various foundations and disability groups. He is co-chair of the ERISA committee of National Employment Lawyers Association, a member of the Employment Benefit Committee of the American Bar Association, a member of The American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.

Mr. Weinhaus has also been appointed to the NCI's Consumer Advocates in Research and Related Activities (CARRA)program.
