No More Waiting: Co-Pay Relief Program Introduces Simplified Application Process

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

HAMPTON, VA– The Co-Pay Relief (CPR) program, a division of Patient Advocate Foundation, is pleased to announce the launch of a new streamlined application process providing applicants with instant eligibility decisions, effective immediately. Eligibility decisions are made immediately upon the completion of an application for assistance based on the patient’s income level, diagnosis, and insurance coverage information; the same criteria that has been utilized by the program for over a decade.  Approved patients that meet the program eligibility will be able to

begin submitting claims immediately thus securing access to therapy as quickly as possible.

“As the reimbursement landscape continues to evolve, the cost-share responsibilities and needs of our patients shift and the urgency of their financial needs change,” explains Fran Castellow, MSEd., PAF’s President of Operations.  “As a pioneer in providing charitable patient assistance to insured patients who cannot afford their live changing medications, the CPR program has a responsibility to continue evolving, ensuring that we are offering a high-quality, personalized experience while providing a rapid response to application and expenditure requests.  The support provided by CPR often makes the critical difference in patients accessing and staying on therapy.  We are pleased to provide our patients with this improved response time.”

The new streamlined application and determination process coincides with the launch of an enterprise-wide database patient management system within the CPR program.  The new platform will offer increased user efficiencies and access to account information, while maintaining many of the system features enjoyed by CPR users previously including electronic signature capabilities, electronic document upload, and unique bar-coded fax routing services.

“For over a decade, our primary goal has always been to ensure our patients get on and stay on therapy quickly as we recognize that the patients contacting our program are faced with financial hurdles that directly impact their access to prescribed care and often do not have time on their side,” Castellow says. “This new opportunity allows us to serve those in need as thoroughly and immediately as possible.”

PAF’s CPR program continues to serve as the “gold standard” among independent, charitable patient assistance programs, consistently maintaining the highest level of OIG compliance both to the letter and in spirit of its original guidance delivering comprehensive patient support one patient at a time.
